How to Crochet a Chain Stitch

October 8, 2023 by Anna Leave a Comment

Sharing is caring!

Step 1: Make a slip knot. Do this by holding a 2-inch tail between the thumb and ring finger, then wrap the yarn around the pointer and middle fingers, crossing the yarn over itself once.

Step 2: Holding the yarn-enveloped hand with the palm facing down, insert the crochet hook under the first line of yarn. Then, hook the second line of yarn and pull it under, twisting the hook once. Take the slipknot off your fingers and pull to tighten. Make sure it is not too tight because you will be pulling a loop through it in the next step.

Step 3: Wrap the working yarn over the hook, and pull through.

Step 4: Repeat until you have the desired amount of chains, and then continue your project!
