The Border
The border is called the picot stitch!
Starting from the last step of the Main Hat…
Ch 1, insert 1 SC into the next two loops.
Ch 3, and then slip stitch into the SC at the base of the chain.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you have completed your border.
Slip stitch into the first SC and tie off your work.
Weave in both ends of your yarn using your tapestry needle.
The Lining
Be sure to wash the fabric prior to attaching it to the hat so it doesn’t shrink and ruin the fit of the hat.
Fold over a section of the soft fabric and lay the hat on it so that when you cut, you will be cutting two layers of fabric.
Mark the fabric to the size of the hat, leaving about a quarter of an inch of seam allowance.
Cut the fabric to the size of the hat.
Glue the two sections of fabric together with flexible fabric glue. Glue it only around the round edge, leaving the straight edge open so that you can attach it to the hat.
After the glue dries, place the lining inside the hat and fold it down so it is just under the border.
Pin the lining to the hat, then sew it together.
Tie off the work, and you are done!
